AJ writes the following about Guts :
GUTS by Gary Paulsen is a great novel for people who like the outdoors. It is a collection of true experiences of Gary Paulsen that inspired his novel HATCHET. The setting is one of the main themes in the novel. The setting is the wilderness of Alaska and Minnesota. I think it was used effectively because it gave good descriptions of the wilderness and environment. Another good element is theme. The main theme I got was survival. Gary Paulsen told how he survived in the wild by killing his own food, making fires to stay alive, and eating the guts of game he killed just to keep from starving. The third and final element is point of view. The point of view is hird person; Gary Paulsen is the narrator and tells of his experiences. I think these three elements were used effectively throughout the novel. If you liked HATCHET and you like the outdoors, then you will definitly enjoy GUTS by Gary Paulesn.
