The Doll People
If you want a book that will catch your attention so much that you wont be able to put the book down until you'r done with it, The Doll People, by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin is the book for you. It is a fantasy with an adventure to it.
Annabelle is the main character, who is sort of shy and doesn't really do anything in the beginning because she is afraid of going into doll state. Towards the middle and ending, Annabelle is the complete opposite. She risks going into doll state because she is going around the house looking for her Aunt Sarah, who is lost. She is my favorite character because she is adventurous and she doesn't let anything bother her. Now, her mom (mamma doll) is the opposite. She is scared to death of going into doll state. She doesn't approve of Annabelle going to look for Aunt Sarah, but she doesn't say no because she wants Aunt Sarah home just as much as everyone else. The dad (papa doll) doesn't really care. He is pretty protective, but he doesn't care that Annabelle goes and looks for Aunt Sarah. The other characters (uncle doll, baby doll, Bobby doll and the Nanny) don't really have big parts in the book, but they are there.
The setting of The Doll People is sort of all over the house, but I think the majority is probably mainly in the doll house, The dolls are out of their house when they are out looking for Aunt Sarah or visiting the Funcrafts once they got there. The Funcrafts are another doll family. They are Kate's little sister, Nora's, family. The setting goes from the living room to the attic, (where they find Aunt Sarah under a trunk) and to Nora's room. They go to all of these room a couple of times, and they have to keep themselves hidden really well because the humans can't see them move or else they have to go to doll state. That is where the dolls can't be alive for 24 hours. The main setting, the doll house, is where the Doll family live. It is where Annabelle finds Aunt Sarah's diary, and where the Dolls sing, read and play.
My overall opinion of this book is great. I would recommend this book for all ages. If you ever wondered if your dolls were really alive, then this is the book for you to read and you will find out. The reason I like this book so much is because it keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. It starts out good and ends even better. Believe me, if you read The Doll People, you won't be disappointed.
