Chere Gruver writes the following about Ivona Knight, Vampyress :
On a dark, stormy night, several people find themselves in a tavern. Ivona Knight is one them. Only coming to find out about someone, she finds herself stuck there with the others when the bridge floods out. Needless to say, when the patrons find themselves stuck, there is some disagreement. The first thing someone brings up is food. In order to fairly claim the bartender?s lunch, they all decide on a contest. The one who comes up with the best story will win the meal. One black-haired, blue-eyed man suggests Ivona tells the first story and so she begins.
Of course, no one believes her when she states she was born in the fourteen hundreds. No one but the man with the black hair that is. As she slowly tells her story, she gathers several different reactions from the various people in the room.
Is Ivona telling the truth? Will she ever be reunited with her beloved Dragomir?
IVONA KNIGHT VAMPYRESS is a truly captivating story. Shannon Leigh pulls us in from the very beginning when she sets the mood with the dark storming night. I loved being able to read the man?s reactions to Ivona as she told her story and he began to realize he had a part in her life. Even though the story is short, it manages to pack quite a wallop during the reading. This is a highly imaginative telling of the old ?Dracula? legend, which definitely bears reading!
