peppy1 writes the following about A Child Called "It" :
Amy Knoetzel Period 2 3-16-05 ?From above, I felt someone hug my shoulders. I thought it was my father; I turned around and became flushed with pride to find my mom holding me tightly. I could feel her heart beat. I never felt as safe and as warm as that moment at Russian River.? That was only one of the inspirational moments from A Child Called ?It.? This is a story about a little boy named David. His mother beats him very badly. He feels like he is a nobody, an ?It,? he always finds his ways to survive. It makes me feel lucky for what I have a home and a family that loves me. At first, his Mother, Rovera was a very loving mom. David soon gets into some trouble at school. His punishments go from discipline to severe beating. He is a ?Bad Boy? an outcast and embarrassment to ?her? family. It comes to the point were he cannot not look or speak unless told to. A Child Called ?It? deserves above and beyond a 10 out of 10! This is at least my fifth time reading this book. David Pelzer is a phenomenal author. He and all of his books are award winning. There is q sequel to this is A Child Called ?It?, The Lost Boy. But A Child Called ?It?, is a lot better. I do warn you, some parts are very graphic. Otherwise, I really recommend this book to all of you. A Child Called ?It? is the most inspirational book you will ever read. It teaches you that no matter what, hold your head up high and believe.
