She Said Yes is an amazing book about Cassie Bernall, whose life is taken by two boys at a school shooting at Columbine High School. This book tells of Cassie?s rough life up until the day of her death and is told through the voice of her mother Misty Bernall. This book tells of friends, family, and mistakes teens make. It?s touching and talks of true hardships teens go through.
Cassie goes through a lot before she goes to Columbine High. She had been caught up in drugs and alcohol and was hanging with the wrong crowd. Her parents found out about everything going on in her life and what kind of affect her friends had on her, and they took her friends away from her. They moved her and put her in a Christian school. They also put her in a youth group which is where her life changed. This book is set in the 90?s time period in Colorado. I rate this book a 10 on a scale from 1-10 because it made me realize that my life or the life of a friend can go at any minute. This book reminds me of Black Water because Black Water is a book about a big mistake a teen makes and then fixed it. It is different though because Cassie dies in the end of her story and because it is a true story. If I could change one thing about this book it would be that the author got views from other parents who also had children die in the shooting. I really like how before each chapter there was a quote and a picture of Cassie. The theme of this book is that we never really know when life will end, so we should cherish everything. In the story Cassie writes a letter to her friend, and in the letter it said ?I?m starting to discover that you should cherish what you have and never take thing for granted.? This book is the best book I have ever read, and I would read it a million times if I could.
