thePeppy1 writes the following about The Privilege of Youth :
The Privilege of Youth is one of my all time favorite books. It is an inspiring story about a boy named David. This is the sequel to A Child called ?it?, The Lost Boy, and a Man Named Dave. This book takes place in California, over by, San Francisco. In the book A Child called ?It?, a boy; ?David? was brutally beaten by his mother. She would starve him, and when he did eat, he got in big trouble. She would make him lie under a bathtub of cold water, including doing all of the house work and many other horrible things. He had no home, love, friends, or even a family. That was what he thought, anyway. He had the courage and strength to stay alive. He got away from the miserable life he once had. The Privilege of Youth, for years after, he was being bounced house to house to different foster families. This book tells how he deals with love, family, friendship and life. David soon realizes that time is running out; he will soon be an adult and out in the world alone. He makes some friendships and meets some girls. David realizes that his mother cannot hurt him anymore, that he is safe, he has moved on with his life. I rate this book an 8 out of 10, because these are great books! David Pelzer is an outstanding author. I recommend this book to all of you, because you will learn a lot from this book. After you read this book, you will really appreciate what you have. You will not under stand this book until you read A Child Called ?it?, and The lost Boy. I think you should really read this book; it?s one of the best books around. I do wish he would not have written so much description though. He went on and on a bit too much. Compared to the other books in the series, they are all equal in greatness.
