Brian Kelly writes the following about Hatchet :
Hatchet is a book about a thirteen year old boy, Brian Robeson, who is dealing with his parents divorced. On his way to visit his Father in northern Canada, a tragic incident occurs and Brian is stranded in the northern forests of Canada. In this harsh wilderness Brian has no time for anger, self-pity, or despair. It will take all of his courage and strength to overcome the hardships he will endure if he is to survive. I would rate this book a 6.7 out of 10, for Paulsen's cleverness. Be sure to read the sequel, Brian's Winter.
