The book is about the family that has three childrens named Byron, Kenny, and their little sister Joey. And their country talkinh mother named Wilona and their father named Daniel Watson.The family has promblems because By is always getting in trouble like when his mother Wilona, tells him to go to the grocery stor and get some food of credit. And Byron starts buying all kinds of food without leting his mother know.And one day Kenny meet this boy named Rufus.Rufus is a poor because you can teel by looking at him. Then one day the Watsons leave flint and got to Birmingham, Alabama. To visit their grand mother sands.And when they get their a dog drowns in the pool cause they wasn't paying attention to it. Then one day the Grandma Sands tells tmem that a boy died in Collier lake because their was whirlpool in it and his body wasn't found.So one day Byron, Kenny, and Joey go to swim at the publi swimming area. And Kenny doesn't want to go, he wants to go to see the whoolpooh. To see if By was telling a lie to him. Then Kenny take off his shoes to swim in the lake. Thin the whirlpool snatches his leg and try to drown him but Byron comes and save him and take him out of the water and starts doing CPR to him.Then Byron start to cry cause he telling him to wake up. Then Kenny wakes up and Byron says "don't tell nobody that this happened ok". On the next Kenny wakes up tire and because he a noise out but it was his mother,Byron,Grandma sands,and hii daddy, talking outside. Then Kenny goes to sit by a tree cause it is hot outside. The they here a loud sound and Kenny mother starts to scream cause some one put a bomb inside the church.Next thing you know Byron runs outside with no sox, and slams the door behind him. Kenny just sit there looking like nothing happened.The he's goes to the church and finds a shoe that look's like Joey shoe, and Kenny thinks' that his sister Joey is dead because he seen three girls on the church front lawn dead.Joey comes in the room to ask Kenny where is her mother and he says he don't know. And Kenny starts acting wierd. Joey starts crying and Grandma Sands says Joey stop making all that fuss.thEN One day Kenny thinks that the Watson pet hostpital will heal him but it didn't. And his mother says he want even tell her where he b going and she is worried about him. Byron is starting to be nice to him now and thats the end of the The Watsons go to Birmingham.
