The book I read was the Secret Garden. I thought this book was good. It had some good parts and some boring parts. I think that if this book had more action it would be more interesting. I gave this book a 9 because it was exciting in a lot of parts. The illustrations were great; they had lots of detail that stood out. I think that if they were in color it would look better. I gave the illustrations a 9.5 because they had lots of detail. Also I think that if the book were shorter more people would want to read it. Some people don?t want to read the book if it is really long. I am not saying to make the font smaller though because that will give the reader a headache. The main characters were Mary, Dickon, Colin, and the maids. In the book Mary?s mom dies so she has to move in with her uncle. While touring her uncle?s big house she hears screaming. She followed the screaming to a room. When she opened the door she saw her cousin lying on a bed. She got to know him better and she would come in to visit him all the time. He has to stay in bed because he has lumps on his back, he is weak, and he gets fevers and has tantrums. After Mary and Colin became better friends she took him outside with her friend Dickon. Dickon, Colin, and Mary planted flowers and plants in their secret garden. No one knew that they were in the garden. No one had been in the garden for 10 years, that?s why they planted flowers, and plants to try to make it come back to life. When they were in the garden, Mary and Dickon started teaching Colin how to walk. He used to say that he couldn?t walk because he was to weak but he was able to. After a while Colin could walk by himself. He also was getting stronger because he was eating more. When he was ill he wouldn?t eat because thought he was going to die. Did Colin die? What happened to the garden? What will Mary and Dickon teach Colin? You will have to read the book to find out. I think you should read this book because it had some really exciting parts. This book makes you jump out of your seat in parts.
