Skellig is the kind of book it's good to read with a teacher, so they can explain all the double-meanings within the story. Michael and his family move to a new house and he makes an amazing discovery. As Michael and his new friend Mina explore the world around them, they learn a lot about themselves, too. The connections between Michael's move and a 'rebirth' as well as the strong connection between Michael, Mina and Skellig are deep. The story line about Michael's baby sister is very touching. His parents are only sub-characters in the story because they are not the main focus. If you take the time to learn about Blake, owls and angels, you will appreciate the book more.
