Octavain writes the following about Tangerine :
Tangerine
Edward Bloor

This review is about a book called Tangerine. If you want to read a good book, I recommend you read Tangerine.

Have you ever imagined a place where anything is possible? Tangerine is just about that. Paul Fisher, a twelve-year-old kid, is really into soccer and is very good at it. His position is goalie, and
he is the best on his team. Paul Fisher has to wear glasses that are more like goggles when he plays soccer, because when he was little,
he had an accident. He can?t remember very well what happened,
but other kids say that he blinded himself by staring at an eclipse of the sun, so now he can?t see very well. Paul's brother, Eric Fisher, plays football and everyone knows him because he is so good at it. Paul and his family moved to Tangerine, Florida. In Tangerine, weird is normal, and all these strange things happen Everyday at 4:00, lightning strikes the football field, and underground fires burn for years. Then a huge sinkhole swallows Paul's school, so he is transferred to a new school called Tangerine Middle School.

Everybody thinks that Paul's brother, Eric, is so perfect, and Paul is going to accomplish his brother?s football dream, but Paul likes soccer better than football anyway. Paul finds out something about Eric that no one else knows. In Tangerine, suddenly the blind can see, geeks can be cool, and maybe a twelve-year-old child can finally face up to his terrifying older brother. In Tangerine, it seems anything is possible.

The book Tangerine has great characters that are described very well by Edward Bloor. For example, when a kid named Tino at Paul's new school, Tangerine Middle School, got in a fight with Paul?s new friend Joey, Edward Bloor describes the facial expressions and movements very well. When Paul's mother has a meeting with Paul about all the things happening in the neighborhood, Edward Bloor described just about everything
about the person that spoke like when Paul?s mother talked to Paul, you can create a picture in your mind of how they talked and where they were. Edward Bloor describes the shape of the character?s face, body, and personality so that you could have an idea of what the character would look like if you were to meet the characters.

Tangerine also has great settings because they are detailed
And realistic [except some things that are happening in
Tangerine.] For example, when Paul goes to school, it gives detailed info of what the school looks like and what it is like.

This book shows that if anyone tries their hardest, they most
likely will succeed in anything they put their minds to. For example, Paul wanted to play soccer and face up his older brother, Eric. Maybe Paul will succeed in both those things, but you will have to read the book Tangerine to find out.

I would give Tangerine a 9.5 because the book is very descriptive, detailed, and interesting to read. Bloor could have done better on the book, by putting in some illustrations in it to create more understanding and to give readers a better picture of the
actions in the book. Also, he could have made the beginning more interesting, then make it less interesting in the middle, and more interesting again at the end to hook readers into wanting to read more, but the book gets better later on in the book instead.
