I read the book "Thunder Cave" by Roland Smith. The story takes place in New York City and in Kenya,Africa in the late 90's. The main caracher,Jacob Lansa, finds himself cought in tons of trouble. This is a great Action/adventure book and teaches the reader about African animals and the Masi of Afica.
In my opinion I think "Thunder Cave" is a great book. The author really captures your atention. I would definetly rate this book a 10 because the book was very intoresting and exciting. It has parts that suprise you and parts when you won't want to put the book down. The only thing I would improve is to explain the other carachers more. For example,Sam,Jake's stepdad needs more explaination.
In the begining,Jacob's mother dies in an accedent leaving Jacob with his stepdad Sam. Sam has to travel to Honduras and plans to send Jake to Nebraska to live with his cousins. Jake desides to to go to Kenya, Africa to see his dad,Robert Lansa who is there during a harsh drout. So when Sam goes out of town for a week, Jake plans his trip. While searching for things to pawn for more money, he finds an amulet with a snake eating its tail, so he keeps it for good luck.Soon Jake finds himself running from a brush fire. After being saved by a Masi named Supeet,he travles with Supeet to make it rain and find his father. Will Jake find his father? Will Supeet make it rain or will they be eaten by hungry lions, trampled by a herd of elephants, or killed by a goup of pochers?
You can also check out the other two books continuing Jakes adventures: Jaguar and The Last Lobo
They are also great books.
