Have you read about The red badge of courage? It is a fantastic book about war.The author, Stephen Crane wrote this war book. It is set between 1861 and 1865 during the American Civil War. It is about an 11 year old who wants to go to war.

Henry is only 11 years old. He is very brave. Guess why? He wants to go to war. He asked his mother if he could go to war. His mother was strong and she didn't cry until Henry was leaving home but he saw her crying. He meets a friend called Jim who stays with him during war.

Henry finds out that wars aren't that good. He discovers what it is to be a hero. Henry doesn't have a family just his mom. His dad abandoned him.

Young Henry has been dreaming all his life to be a hero and this is his oportunity to be one. The American Civil War is going on in the north. As we know wars aren't that pleasant with smells, lots of noise and dead people. Find out how he reacts and what he thinks after being in war.
