Blue writes the following about Darkness Before Dawn :
Darkness before Dawn
By: Sharon M. Draper

Would you like to read a book that reflects on life lessons? If you would, you should read the book Darkness before Dawn. I think it portrays an everyday young-adult.

This book is about a young lady who is a senior in high school that has been through deaths of friends and meeting of new friends. She also learned something that she would be glad she learned at an early age. She learns not to get involved with the wrong men or man. She learned the true meaning of friendship when things were going down hill. Sounds like actual life, huh?

My book had a good choice of character and the character's personality. First, the young woman Keisha, was a senior in high school who lost a friend to one of her other friends driving a car while he was drunk. That is a true-life situation that happens everyday with teenagers. Keisha learned that some men may appear to be something, but they are really the total opposite. I feel that is another thing that happens to everyone in everyday life male or female. Second, Keisha liked the young, nice looking new track coach at her school. He took her out a couple of times. She sometimes let him persuade her into lying to her parents to be with him. She also used to sneak and talk to him on the telephone. Later she found out she had made one of the biggest mistakes in her life when he tried to take advantage of her. I feel that in life you should have at least one true friend. This book portrays that same statement. Lastly, Keisha's ex-boyfriend committed suicide the night after she broke up with him. Her friends, true friends, were there for her to help her through.

I really feel this book could be compared to an everyday teen's life. This book could make you think more about how you make decisions in life. This book is real.
