Oren writes the following about Tangerine :
When Paul Fisher and his family moved from Houston to Tangerine county Florida everything went from normal to extra strange. Weird things started happening and Paul started seeing things in a whole different light. Paul had a strange accident that left him almost blind when he was a little kid. He never really remembered what happened, everyone says he stared at an eclipse too long and it blinded him; for some reason he just doesn?t believe them.
I think Edward Bloor, the author of Tangerine, has done a wonderful job making all the crazy natural disasters we have here in Florida sound so? fun. He has made the characters come to life by helping us see through their eyes.
I think a valuable lesson is taught in this book. I get the message that Edward Bloor is saying, ?You?re not handicapped if you don?t want to be." Paul was legally blind but he learned to live with it and he became a valuable player on his soccer team. Being handicapped will only bring you down if you let it, and by focusing on the things that you can still do, there are still may ways you can excel.
I think this was a great book and would recommend it to anyone from 11 up.
