William Watson writes the following about Hatchet :
The ?Hatchet? ended up being a great book. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. It is now one of my favorite books. It is about the wilderness and nature so I enjoyed reading it. My opinion of Gary Paulson is that he is great writer and he puts a lot of detail into his books. He especially put a lot of detail describing all the things that happened to Brian and how he felt. He likes to write a lot about nature and the environment. In this book he described a bunch of animals and plants. He probably knew all of these things from experience since he had lived in a log cabin. He also writes about people that have problems or something that is wrong in their life.
I liked how he used a lot of detail to describe Brian?s (The main character) surrounding. He used lots of words to describe every single scene or thing that Brian saw. It helped me to picture everything in my mind. I also liked how he made everything more interesting and made me want to keep on reading. I was so interested in this book I couldn?t put it down until I had finished it. One thing I didn?t like about this book was that it was ended too quickly. Another thing I got frustrated over was the length of the chapters. In the book there were 19 chapters and only about 9 pages per chapter. The main character had just found a bunch of supplies when the pilot rescued him. I also liked how this book had so many struggles and had a lot about animals. I hope that the next Gary Paulson book that I read is as good as this one was.
The author used pretty good grammar and the book didn?t appear to have any spelling mistakes. The author used longer words in some parts of the book, to better describe the things around the main character. That made the book a lot more interesting. I also thought that for a fiction book all of the details made it seem like he was right where the book took place watching Brian. I could picture everything that he said in that book. It was overall an amazing book.
I would recommend this book to anyone. It is easy to understand and is very interesting. If you read this book you will not be able to put it down. It is a detailed and greatly written book. He wrote a lot of words that helped me picture everything in my mind. This book is probably the best book I ever read. It made me want to start reading more books, by Gary Paulson, and other authors as well. I am certain that if you read this book you will want to keep on reading. If you really never read books this will definitely change you
