Kari writes the following about HOOT :
This book is adventure filled with many original and interesting characters. It was an almost non-fictional story, with many quirky and sometimes just plain weird scenarios. The story depicts the real life events of a teenager, which relates to plenty of the readers and gives adults a chance to see life through a teenager?s eyes. Carl Hiaasen is definitely a great writer and he brings a real life into the characters, which makes the book more believable and not as far-fetched.Hoot is filled with definate mystery, thrill, adventure and has a lot to do with the environment so if any of these themes attract your attention, by all means READ IT!! As for the illustrations, it didn't really have many. It was surely colourful but didnt have any sort of drawings.
