Levana Lam writes the following about The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, No 1) :
I'm doing my book review on a book called "The Golden Compass", by Phillap Pullman. This book has 351 pages and is a fantasy, adventure novel. it is the first book in the "His Dark Materials" Trilogy as well.

This book is about a girl called Lyra who one day recieves a compass like object called an "alethiometer", and after finding it she finds herself on a long exitment filled adventure filled with bears, witches, and other exiting things.

On Lyra's journey she meets lots of different people and animals. There are also some exithing parts in the story too. Such as when Lyra saves a group of kids from a horrible place called "Bolvanger". Another part is when she tricks Iofer Rakinson the king of bears whom she meets near the end of the story so That Iorek Byrinson can take his rightful place as king, and she meets him near the middle of the story. Also in Lyra's journey she travels with people called the gyptians and with them she discoveres most of here life and who her parents really are.

I would reccemend this book to people who like fantasy or adventure novels. I would also reccemend this book because it is in the grade 5 level. I hope you enjoy reading this book.
