Ralphthewonderllama_doh! writes the following about The Murder at the Vicarage :
As usual Agatha Christie delivers by introducing Ms. Marple, the detective hero of this story. This well written novel will keep a reader intrigued until the cows come home, or until they finish the book. But it leaves you craving more Miss Marple books. This book is about the murder of the sour old Colonel Protheroe, an it does included some very suspenseful twists and turns.
The point of view in this book is in my opinion is always the best for murder mysteries, third person limited. It relates only what the characters say and is not from anyone persons perspective. This is great because it only reveals what is known publicly and you do not get too much info. at a time. This literary element keeps this and all mystery novels more suspenseful. This element definatly adds much more to the overall mysteriousness of this story.
The characters were also developed very well. All had exquisite background and were portrayed very well. everyone had their own personalities that played very well into the story.
The plot of this novel is obviously mysterious, as it is a mystery novel. The books plot was well executed with a good tid bit of knowledge revealed when absolutly neccesary. the plot was completely original never having been done before which is right on target as it is one of Agatha Christies books. As Agatha Christie is the queen of mysteries.
Overall this book was excellent and I recommend it to anyone who can read. It was an absolutly ingenious book with first class writing and plot. This bbok is an excellant read for anyone who truly enjoys well written literature!
