Harold Schernoff, is the school nerd and he thinks that he has a solution for everything
imaginable, from dating to getting x-ray vision from spilling pen ink on him self. But when
its time to test out his theory's is all goes awry the ink makes him sick and he ends up
going fishing but instead of catching something he gets caught. BY A FISH!! This story
takes place in Hilliard Minnesota.
Like many other Gary Paulsen books, the Schernoff Discoveries is packed with lots of
twists and turns and with lots of funny parts. Gary Paulsen lets us inside one of the most
unpopular people in school. It also lets you read about his quest for coolness. But is he?s
going to succeed or will he just make a bigger fool of himself. if you want to find out you
will have to read this book. The only suggestion that I would make to improve this book is to
make it longer it max is only 99 pages, it's really short for a book and has a lot of
confusing words in it. I would probably suggest this book for all level of readers even
though it has confusing words in it.
I gave this story a 9 for its well-written descriptions of the surroundings and what goes on
in the school. It also has some hilarious parts in it like when Schernoff tries to go fishing
but gets caught by the fish instead. This book keeps you wanting to know more. I think that
everyone that is or was in school could to relate to it, weather your popular not popular or
just a person who is always thinking up new ideas. I would have given this bok a 10 but
didn?t think it was perfect and I thought it was super short.Tyler Faltys
