To me personally I think this book is aimed towards older readers (16+) but more advanced younger readers would understand it. I think its not so much the language use that makes it so complex it?s the plot.
In chapter 3 when Mogget is talking to Sabriel I think the
Text puts across clearly the brief despise Mogget has for
Sabriel.? ? ?I guessed as much? Mogget said twisting his head away from Sabriel?s hand ?it is true that you are sadly ignorant or you would promise with a will, your father should never have sent you beyond the wall.? ?
I also think that the text flows seamlessly into each other.
Here is an example from chapter four
? Sabriel ran her hand over the smooth, cool, wood feeling both her memory of it and the current sensation, then she sighed,
Pulled up a chair and put down the three books she had tucked under her arm.?
I do not wish for this to put any body of reading such a wonderful book (or to offend Garth Nix in any way)
but to me the ending was an huge anti-climax .the big battle between Kerrigor / Rogir and sabriel gets you all hyped up and then the story just doesn?t go into any more detail of aftershock of any kind everybody is happy and not shocked or shaken in anyway. Personnaly I thinck it?s the sign for a sequal.
