K. T. writes the following about The Giver :
The Giver is a great book. The story is about a 12 year old named Jonas. He is assigned the job of "Receiver of Memories". He holds the feelings and freedoms that were found in the past. He must keep them hidden from his "perfect" society in order to protect everyone from pain. In the end, he realizes the hidden truths about his so called "perfect" society and plots to return all memories back to the people. The beginning is rather slow but the excitement increases. It gives the reader a look into what our world would be if everything was the same. Even though our world can be sometimes cruel, I think we would still want our freedom.
