Emily W writes the following about Tell Me No Lies :
This book is about a girl, Gemma who blackmails Mike a new boy at her school because she knows too much about him and his past. Gemma has got no friends, she feels as if she doesn't exist, she is nobody and she makes scrapbooks with cuttings from newspapers of mums as she will never have one. She blackmails Mike because she feels that she is noticed by him when she does. I didn't like Gemma much in this book because she wasn't very nice and was quite annoying. Mike moves in with his grandparents, starts at Gemma's school, makes new friends quickly and gets invited to a party which Gemma is not invited to. He thinks starting at a new school will give him a fresh start from the past he wants to hide. His plan changes when he meets Gemma. I quite liked Mike, I felt quite sorry for him. I most enjoyed the part when Mike was standing on the bridge over-looking the dirty, murky, not knowing how deep canal. You could imagine what he was going to do. I enjoyed it because it was a quite tense situation and moment. This story is about blackmail but at the end it turns into friendship and family. This book was told from two points of view, Gemma and Mike's. It was quite confusing sometimes. I didn't like the ending much. It wasn't what I expected and it was quite boring. This book was good, I enjoyed it except for the ending.
