Because I didn't vote for that book when we chose it in class I didn't want to read it and started a bit prejudiced. And when I started reading the first chapters about this strange world and about the people not really being characters because they don't have a real character I thought that my prejudices had been right.
But after going on with the book, when Jonas became the new Receiver and when the Giver was presented I was more and more interested about how the story would go on. Against the end I couldn't stop reading and I had that feeling I have to have for to like a book, the feeling to BE in the story.
I was a bit disappointed about the ending. Not because it's bad, I think it's a good anding, but perhaps because I expect something else and more information about what would happen to Jonas and Gabe.
All in all I have to say that in spite of my prejudices I liked the book because the world is so different to our world so you can imagine everything in completely your own way.
