Jo writes the following about Of Mice and Men :
I found this book alot more interesting than any other book that we have read in school although it is not a book that i would read normally. There is alot of imagery which sets a beautiful scene which you can picture clearly throughout the novel although i am not sure how the scenary plays a part in the book. Whenever you actually study a book in school it seems that you miss so many parts. Before i would have never thought about why curleys wife has no name and why she hangs around the bunkhouse. I think it was strange that Steinbeck should write a book so much on peoples dreams including the historical context and than have a character like Lenny do something so awful juts before the end. This part i could not really imagine happening. I could not understand how George could do such a thing to his best friend at the end although he could not have done anything else as Curley would have shot him anyway.
I would say this is an interesting book to read if you were interested in that particualr era but otherwise as i said not i book i wold normally choose.
P.s. sorry if i have given away the ending to any readers who have not yet read the book
