Macon K. writes the following about The Indian School :
In 1839 newly orphaned eleven year old Lucy goes to live with her missionary aunt and uncle who run a school for Indian children in northern Michigan because a letter had came to their house saying her parents were killed in a wagon accident. Lucy's uncle Edward was a minister; so they had prayed for the family. They had started a mission for Indian schools. They cared for Indian Kids whose parents were gone. It was Lucy's first day of Indian school. She was dressed very nicely and Lucy's Aunt said, "Straighten up your dress." As Lucy peeked through the glass window,a boy named Billy Bob opened the door and she fell. Everybody laughed at her. The teacher said it was ok and she cried. Her friend Raver taught her how to gather nuts and how to make syrup out of tree sap.
