Tiffy writes the following about The House on Hackman's Hill :
Do you want to read a story that will make you think twice before turning off the lights? Well if so this has got to be the right book. The main characters of the story are Jeff, Debbie, Mr. Karsten, Dr. Hackman, Grandma, Grandpa, and Mr. Karsten's Mom. This book takes place in a small town during winter (Grandma and Grandpa?s house). Jeff and Debbie are cousins but never get to see each other, so this summer they get to stay at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Last summer when Jeff was there he found a house on a hill he didn?t feel right like he was being watched or something. When Jeff tells Debbie what he found last year when he was at Grandma and Grandpa's house they decide to ask the only man that will talk about the house..... Mr. Karsten. When Mr. Karsten was a boy he lived in a house on a hill it was Dr. Hackman's house, he was a professor at the university Karsten's mother taught at. He had decided to open a museum and needed Ms. Karsten's help. So she and her son went to live with Dr. Hackman. Well Mr. Karsten felt very weird in this house. In the dinning room were statues all sorts, but one seemed the tallest and the weirdest. IT had the body of a man but the head of a jackal. Mr. Karsten was very nervous about living here because he was in a tower room and his mom was down on the 1st floor. One day he found a coin and so he put it in his pocket. Well that night he heard a cry, and his mother came to him and asked if he had had a nightmare and Mr. Karsten knew he didn't but just so she wouldn't frighten he said yes. So Mr. Karsten tells the kids what it was like. He tells them that something bad only happens at night. So they kids decide to go look for the house they would pack some food, the camera, a flashlight, and a screw driver. So the kids go to the house during the day and investigate. Well what they hadn't known was that a blizzard had started and there was no way for them to get out before dark so they stayed. It you want to find out what happens to Debbie and Jeff you should read this book.
