Robert Slone writes the following about M.C. Higgins :
M.C. Higgins This book is historical fiction. It takes place when America was becoming more colonized. It takes place in the hills called the Sarah Mountains were a whole bunch of black people are living. The author Virginia Hamilton is the author of The House of Dies Drear and The Planet of Junior Brown. She is also a Newberry prize winner. The books format is a chapter type format. It is all about how there life is. And how they react to others and there peaceful life. ?We have to leave it,? he said softly, ?and that?s a shame.? (pg. 2) this line I?m very used to it, because I?m always moving around to find work or find a better place to live. So I?m used to moving around to new places. So I can understand how they feel. At first I hated this book because it was boring when they were just waiting for someone to make a recording of there mother. When he finally came then it got better. The recorder Jones told that a huge pile of stuff form the mine was going to cover the mountain. I would recommend this book to those who like classic books of the old life.
