The Secret Garden
By Frances Hodgson Burnett
This book called The Secret Garden was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Frances was born in 1849 and died in 1924. She had written over 40 books and had written several plays. When Frances wrote the fiction book, The Secret Garden, she wrote it in chapters so it would be easier to understand. The book has 27 chapters and is a pretty good book.
The book has an exciting plot about a very lonely and rude girl named Mary whose parents died from a disease. She moved in with her uncle and met her maid, Martha, Martha?s brother Dickon and her cousin Colin. She also discovered ?The Secret Garden? which the book is named after.
My personal feelings about this book, The Secret Garden, was that I would not recommend it to all 7th graders. This book was very confusing. I would rate this book a 4 because it was an okay book but it was very hard to understand and wasn?t very exciting. The quote that I mostly tie to is ?That there was nothing to prevent thee? page 34. I tie to this quote because I am a very curious girl and nothing can stop me from getting what I want.
