Todd U. writes the following about Across the Wild River :
James, Jeremy, Elizabeth, and their Ma and Pa Gregs all lived in Pennyslvania. They all got their stuff and loaded it up on the wagon and went to Independence, Missouri. Then Pa, James, and Jeremy went to P. Whitfield Provisioner and stopped. Machie the horse took off with the wagon to the other side of the street. Greg and his friend Cady Walker started down the trail. They got to the South Platte River and went across and Cady fell out of the wagan and she can't swim. Greg jumped out and and saved them both. They started farther up the trail, and they made it. Then they named it the Oregon Trail.

This book is a very good book. The part I liked most was when they went up the trail. I would like to read another book like this.
