Blondie Jr. writes the following about The Outsiders :
Over all I did now like the book as much as I had hoped I would. I can see that S.E. Hinton is a great writer. It's just for some reason I could not find my place in the story. I realize that it is about gangs and their rivalries. I also see that it is about two boys running from their family and the law. One of the reasons I did not like the book is because the ending stunk. Maybe if the ending changed I might have liked it a little bit more. I do however recommend the movie because it is allot better than the book. It has some pretty big stars too. I give the book a five out of ten and the movie an eight.
