It was about kids and little adventures and very racist adults. Two kids Scout and Jem ( sister and brother ) live in a town named Maycomb with their father Atticus. There father is a lawyer. In this story over half the population thinks that negroes are filthy and as far as they are concerned they would prefer if none of them lived in their town. They think they are basically there for house keeping and work.
About half way through the book Jem and Scout are faced with a problem. Their father Atticus is asked to defend a colored man named Tom Robinson. In Maycomb a colored man has never won a trial over a white man. Atticus thinks that he has a good chance of winning the trial. What happened was a man that lived in town ( Bob Ewell ) tried to say that Tom Robinson raped is daughter Mayella. Atticus made Bob Ewell look like a fool in court and basiclly proved that he was lying. Tom robinson dies by tring to escape. After the trial Bob Ewell got really drunk and tried to kill Jem and Scout.
I think it was a pretty good book. There is a lot of racism but not a bad book. I thought some parts were boring but it always got good again. I thought the author did a very good job of putting the story together. I would recommend this book to people who like to read about things that could have happened before. The grammer is also based on the way they used to talk before. I think this book could teach people that color doesn't matter and people can have different opinions.
