The book started out telling a story about this girl Teresa and how she was driving in her car up the interstate and seemed to be upset. She pickes up two hitchhikers, Poppy Corn and Freedom Jake. They work as magicans and need a ride to California to their show. Teresa lets them join her and they all become friends or so she thinks.
To pass time they tell each other stories. Teresa tells stories about why she is running away. (which is because her boyfriend Bill cheated on her with her best friends). Free and Poppy continue to tell the story of John and Candy. These two that fell in love and broke up and both chose different lifestyles to live.
I enjoyed this book because I thought it realated alot to being in high school, which I am.
I would recommend it to young adults who have a love to read and when they read they get in depth with the story
