I thought this was an excellent book for teaching the students about World War II. It was a great story that taught about the hardships of the war and it was personalized by being told through a young girl. I actually never finished the book because I read it in my 6th grade class and the then school ended! I was so upset and actually never finished the story. I regret not borrowing it and reading right away because now I have no motivation to go back to it. Even so, I highly recommend it for middle school aged children.
