Sylvestris Poodle writes the following about Countdown :
Countdown is a book about two people from difrent sides of the world who can get along even though they have very, very different dreams.
Countdown intoduces two main characters. They are Elliot Schoeder and Vincent Ol tomb. Elliot is an American boy that lives on a ranch in Momtana. His dream is to become an astronaut. His dad wants him to take over the ranch. Vincent is a Maasi boy who lives in Kenya, Afica. He wants to learn at the wood school. His father wants him to become a warrior. Vincent goes to Sambeke who teaches him some of the white man's ways. Elliot enters a contest to be the frist junior astronaut and wins! He is flown to Housten, Texas to be traind. Mandy is the 2nd place winner and is in Houston too. Elliot doesn't like her and thinks that she is trying to take his place in space. Elliot ends up going to space. Vincent thinks that ALL the stuff in the infirmary is magic. Sambeke tells him about the space shuttle Endavour. Vincent and Elliot end up talking to each other on the ham radio and they don't get along. But when the space shuttle Endeavour makes an emergency landing they put their differences aside and become friends. I would recommened this book to any one who wants adventure, friendship, trust or someone who wants to understand how dumb it is to fight with someone just because they live somewhere else or because their culture is different.
