?Fire At Thunder Ridge?, is the latest work of American author Billie A. Williams. It is a fast paced mystery set in Summerville County, a remote part of Colorado. Material greed is an integral part of the plot.
Ruby Carpenter was used to her husband arranging her life. He was the one who made all the decisions, affecting their financial future. Now that he was lost to her, she found herself at the mercy of the world.
The new owner of the Thunder Ridge Trailer Park was not the only person affected by her husband?s death. It set off a chain of events that snowballed out of control. Her ignorance of world affairs and a trusting nature would be her downfall.
Sam Levine was a Private Investigator who enjoyed his line of work. He was also fortunate to have a silent benefactor who paid for his services. At this particular point in his career, he was involved in a most complicated riddle.
It started with a mysterious fire in Jo-Ellen?s apartment at the Thunder Ridge Trailer Park. The apartment should have burnt to the ground. Yet, the only real damage done was to Jo-Ellen herself and her dog Barney.
Then there was the rowdy residents of trailer number three. College students who liked to party and get into all sorts of mischief. One of them, known as DJ, was a mystery man of dubious background.
Sam Levine?s best ally was Sheriff Krueger. They worked well as a team but the fire at Thunder Ridge Trailer Park baffled them. Its real cause would shock them and bring Summerville into turmoil.
The lust for power and material wealth is an unfortunate trait of the human condition. At Thunder Ridge Trailer Park, these two aspects were deeply ingrained in several of the residents. This would lead to treachery and misery not often seen in a small town.
I enjoyed the twist and turns in the plot. The small chapters kept the pace of the novel flowing. Never for a moment does the book dull one?s senses.
If you like a fast paced mystery that is well constructed, then this is just the book you are looking for. The author is at the peak of her powers and knows how to capture and entertain her audience.
?Fire At Thunder Ridge will not disappoint readers of this genre.
It is a book I thoroughly recommend.
