Midnight Magic
Have you ever had to convince a princess that a ghost doesn?t exist? In Midnight Magic, Mangus the magician and his trusty servant Fabrizio are called to Pergamontio?s castle, the castello, to do so. If they find this so called ghost, their lives will be forfeited. If they don?t see this ghost, Count Scarazoni will be able to go through with his evil plan and Mangus and Fabrizio will be set free. Will they see the ghost? If so, will they lie to save their lives? This novel by Avi was suspenseful and a page turner.
This book takes place in 1491 in the kingdom of Pergamontio. It started on a rainy day when Fabrizio decided to use his tarot cards to predict the future. The first card he pulled said, THE MAGICIAN, and then the second said THE SERVANT. Fabrizio knew it stood for him and Mangus. He laid out the next six cards which said THE CASTELLO, THE KING, THE GHOST, THE PRINCESS, THE TUTOR, and THE QUEEN. Then he pulled out the card that told all of their fortunes. It said ?
I would rate this book a nine, because it was well written, but I don?t think there is such a thing as a book that everybody will enjoy. I really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enhance their vocabulary. This book had no illustrations.
Once at the castello, Mangus and Fabrizio do a lot of detective work to find out clues about the ghost. Fabrizio and Mangus?s eyes, ears, and intuition can decide the entire fate of Pergamontio. If you are dying to know whether there is a ghost or not, and what the fate of all of the people in Pergamontio, then read Midnight Magic.
