I came to my new school half way in the middle of the school year. It was very hard to come in to the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. My teacher expected me to catch up but I was nervous about it. I hate to read but I actually liked this book. It was easy to understand what was going on. I liked that the characters were around my age. I liked that the gang helped each other. If one guy in their gang needed help then help was on the way, and if one guy in their gang got in trouble they would never dare tell who did it. I also liked that the Greasers never let the Socs get them down, Know matter how much money they had.
There were a lot of major sad parts that happened though out this book. For example when Johnny died in the hospital. Dalley totally freaked out, because he really loved Johnny like a brother. Then Dalley wanted to die because he missed Johnny so much. Dalley robbed a store then ran from the cops. We know the reason why he ran from the cops and then pulled a gun out on them; because he wanted to be shot by them so then he could be with Johnny.
I think I learned a lot from this book. I learned not to judge someone without really getting to know them for who they are not how much money they have or what they look like.
In this book it like there is always something going on. This book never has a slow moment. There?s always either a sad, scary, funny, or exciding thing going on. I think reading is boring but I loved this book. I think other teens out there would like it to. I give it five stars out of five stars. I hope you liked this book as much I did.
