I am giving the Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton a five out five star rating. It is one of the best books I have ever read. Each chapter always left me wondering what would happen next.
One of my favorite parts in the book was when Ponyboy broke the bottle on the car and stood up to the Socs. I enjoyed it because whenever someone gives you trouble, you have to stand up for yourself. He also proved to the Socs that he wanted them to get off his back for good. The Socs realized that Ponboy wasn?t wimpy like he was in the beginning of the book. But I liked it when Ponyboy picked up the glass because he was still a kind person.
A second part of the book that I thought was funny was Ponyboy left his shoes in the locker room at school. He did that because he was so messed up after the rumble. I don?t think he would have made such a mistake if he had not been so messed up. I thought it was funny because who would ever leave their shoes in the school locker room? I also thought it was interesting that try as he might, Ponyboy never found his shoes.
Not all the parts of the Outsiders were funny, however. Some of them were very sad. The first part I thought was sad was when Dally died. It broke my heart because Dally set himself up to be killed by the police. Dally loved Johnny so much that he killed himself. While I am on the subject, I don?t think killing yourself ever solves anything. The second part I thought was sad was when Cherry Valance said that the Socs don?t feel any emotions. That was sad in my opinion because everyone needs to feel emotions and let them out. It is not good to keep your feelings bottled up inside. It is always good to have someone to talk to about your feelings.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books about teenagers and the problems they face. I would also recommend this book to anyone who likes books with drama and suspense. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I hope that the next person who reads the Outsiders will enjoy it as much as I did.
