Violet writes the following about The Outsiders :

Ponyboy Curtis is a "Greaser." That means he doesn't have much money, good clothes, or a very good life. He's one of the youngest kids in his grade, and gets picked on by rich kids for living in a "bad" neighborhood. For Ponyboy, life is very different than many other people's life. Especially one day when a fight gets out of hand, leaving three boys struggling to live... I especially think this book is great because there is such emotion in the writing. And SE Hinton was only 16 when she wrote it. This is a good book for anyone who is different than the crowd, or is scared to be. Don't worry. Let your inner star shine.
