“Millions” is yet another demonstration of Frank Cottrell Boyce’s unique talent of grabbing the reader within seconds of opening the book.
The story revolves around two brothers named Anthony and Damien, who one day find themselves in possession of a vast amount of money.
Although the prospect of being able to buy everything they want is very appealing; they are also up against a gang of thieves eager to get their money back before the change of currency. The relationship that young Damien had with his mum leads to him becoming obsessed with things such as saints, to compensate for her his mother “going to a better place”.
This story is an example of the famous phrase “money can’t buy you happiness” because although they possess such a large sum of money, it cannot give Damien what he really wants; care, a normal family and a happy life
Although Boyce may have targeted this book for particular age group, it will touch the reader whatever age they might be. The pace of the book never slows down and frequently leaves you wanting to know what will happen next.
