Bre'Asia Norton writes the following about That Was Then, This is Now :
That Was Then, This is now is basically about conflicts, gangs, and drug usage that the two main characters Bryon and mark has gotten involved in. Bryon and Mark both grew up together as children. Bryon really never had a dad but has a mother, whom is still in the hospital recovering. Where theres Marks parents who both were involved in a shooting at their home. While everything is going good in their lives until in a bar fight their friend Charlie had gotten shot. With their friend dead, one had felt guilty about it all happening, Bryon. Bryon had been emotionally sick and had been blaming himself about the whole situation with Charlie. While theres Mark whose pretending that it all never happened. The shooting had seemed like a wake call for Bryon because he had started to turn his life around in an instance. Then theres Mark's and Bryon's other friend named M&M whose addicted to a drug known as LSD. M&M had gotten lost while he was on the drug but had gotten found by Mark and Bryon. Once they had found M&M he was torn all up and was complaining about spiders crawling all around in his stomach. But, M&M father weren't so happy when M&M had gotten found but, everyone else was very happy and cheerful that he had been found after all. This story I think to me is a life learning lesson, which can really help you in your life if your having gang problems or drug usage problems. So that's why I really recommend this book all teens and all ages that are really old enough to understand how much using drugs can affect your life or by being in differents types of gangs around your neighborhood.
