Amani Holder writes the following about That Was Then, This is Now :
This novel took place in the 1960's where things weren't so good for certain groups of people. The main characters in this book are Mark, Bryon, Angela, M&M, Charlie, and Cathy. As the book moves on you start to see Mark and Bryon (who are brothers) grow further and further apart until they become completely different people. The solution to this problem is total seperation for an untold amount of time. This book has everything you could possibly want from a book except length. There's triumph, death, anger, a love story, and emotion. I had a hard time getting over Mike getting beaten over almost nothing (except trying to help). I would definitely recomend this book to almost anyone.
