Ashley Nguyen

This story was ok to me.It tells you about life, how you mature and develop, and dealing with bad situations in life. Like drugs and gangs.
The setting in the story was in the 1960s.When back then was really poor and it was difficult for kids to manage their lives. Teens would do drugs, skipping and failing school, some even end up in jail!
The main characters were Mark and Bryon.Mark's parents died in an angry fight, and they shot each other. So Mark lives with Bryon and Bryon's Mother.Mark and Bryon were always together,so they were like brothers to each other, and they form a bonding relationship.Mark was known for selling drugs to people, stealing stuffs, and hotwiring cars. While Bryon on the other hand was a good kid.Whose still trying to make a right decision about his life and future, and also learning from his past mistakes. He met many people in his life that ends up in a bad result, which they change his life.Bryon got tired of the fighting and drugs, and one day he saw a tin full of drugs under Mark's bed, which Mark was selling,he reported the cops and they caught Mark and put him in jail.Mark was getting worse and their relationship of brotherhood was gone.Later Mark was sent to the State Prison. While Bryon has a job and doing well in school,so that the path for his future is successful.
The ending wasn't happy, it was left out and was really sad. That is my book review for this story,That was Then,This is Now.
