nicko writes the following about Sing Down the Moon :
The story is about a girl named Bright Morining. She is a Navaho indian. Basically what happens in the story is that one day whole Bright Morning And Running Bird(her friend) were witing while their sheep were grazing a spaniard walks up to them. He asks for directions. THe next second he grabs Running Bird and Bright Morning and kidnaps them. They will sell them to people as slaves. One day, a girl walks up to Bright Morning and tells her about a plan to escape. One night they escape but while they are escaping on of the Navaho warriors name Tall Boy shows up and helps them. Unfortunately some of the bullets that the Spaniards shot hit his aarm and the arm became useless. Some days after they got back to their canyon more Spaniards coime and demand that the Navahos leave their canyon and follow them. Everyone goes into hiding. But after many days their supplies run out and they surrender in order to live. After many days of idle marching they reach a fort called Fort Sumner. Here they live for many days. While they werre walking to the fort Bright Mornign sees a girl that was carrying two children and she offers to help her. But some days after they reach the fort the girl gets sick and she dies. Some time after Bright Morning and Tall Boy get married as they were originally supposed to. One day though an Apache told them that they were stealing wood from the Apaches' trees and started walkin gtowards them with a rock. So to defend himself and his new wife Tall Boy grabs a pice of wood and hits the Apche. Later that night some of the Spaniards came and took him to the fort. No matter how much Bright Morning and her father pleaded they did not let him go. Then one day Tall Boy escapes and durin gthe tim e he was imprisoned Bright Morning was gathering supplies for their escape for she was planning an escape beacuse her baby was due in a matter of days. So When Tall Boy escaped they went back to thir canyon and during their trip her son was born. Then they made it back and made a new life. THE END
