Herbee writes the following about Hope was Here :
Hope Was Here is a very powerful book. It sends certain messages throughout the story. As such as be yourself, be thankful for what you do have and that your not moving around as much as Hope is. It must be very hard for Hope to make new friends with all the moving around. I personally enjoyed this book very much.
Hopes life is very hard in the begging of the story because, she knows that she was unwanted by her mother. Then her Aunt Addie came along and took her in. Once Hope becomes old enough she joins her Aunt Addie in the food business, they serve food at diners.
Finally they decided to settle in a small town in Wisconsin, Mulhoney. Which was hard for hope because moving from New York City to a small town in cheese country. So she was leaving the place that she liked the most so far. The diner that they settled at is Welcome Stairways Café.Hope doesn’t expect to feel at home there Cause it is such a small town. Hope feels very comfortable so it makes it easy for her to make new friends and become involved with the towns activities faster. Just as she doesn’t expect to get caught up in town politics. Because that Mulhoney is such a small town ,business booms. I love the way that Hope writes “,Hope was here.”
