This is truly a touching true story about a girl named Cassie Bernall who went from having friends who wanted to kill her parents, to saying yes to believing in God to a hatred striken student, and she was shot, and was killed. I know it would have been hard for me if I were Cassie's mother, but she had the strength to write this book, telling not just her daughter's story of death, but her whole life, and how unlikely it would be for her to be a Martyr. This book made me cry, and I've heard the song 'Cassie' by Flyleaf, that is a great song, that describes what had happened. Flyleaf is actually the reason I found out about Cassie and her story, because I was listening to the song and I asked my mom, "What do these lyrics mean?" I was on A-Zlyrics.com so I showed her them. She told me, "I think this is talking about how this girl got shot by two students because she said yes to believing in God. I have the book her mother wrote about her." I wanted to read it, so my mom went looking for it and when she found it, it said it was about Cassie Bernall, and that was the name of the song. I was so inspired by Cassie and her mother as well, for she wrote the book only months after her daughters death. It took me about a year to be able to talk to people about my fathers death when I was 3. Check out this book and the song 'Cassie' by Flyleaf. The song is rock-metal, so if you like that kind of music then you should definitely check it out. I'm giving illustrations an 8 because there were only pictures in the book, not real illustrations. Please consider reading the book! :)
