gAcross the Australian deserth
First story is gAcross the Australian deserth. Robyn Davidson decided to walk across the Australian desert and came to Alice Spring with Diggity, her dog. She didnft have enough money and it was necessary for her to get camels and learn about them so she started to work at the camel farm. Then, she started her journey for the west coast. She enjoyed her journey and met nice people. However, there were some problems in her long journey.
During her journey, I think she struggled with herself. She had to do things she didnft want to do. In fact, one morning, when she got up, she noticed that wild camels were running toward to her. Then, she had to shoot to warn them and she killed one of the camels accidentally. It was necessary for her to guard herself. She was very shocked and cried. Moreover, in Wiluna, Diggity had eaten poison which had been sprinkled on the ground to kill the dingoes. Then Diggity was in too much pain and didnft have chance to survive so she had to kill Diggity. After she shot Diggity, she was disconsolate about it.
I think she has strong courage and desire because she came to strange town without enough money. Moreover, first, people regarded her as a crazy woman. I think in her long journey, her strong will made her continue the journey even when she lost Diggity. Also, I learned from her that strong will and dream have a big power. Therefore, I think I should find a desire. It would make my life more exciting.
gClimbing Annapurnah
Second story is gClimbing Annapurnah. Arlene Blum was a leader of climbing team of women. She wanted to climb Annapuna so she recruited members from all over the world. Then, the ten women started to climb to the summit. During climbing, she had to reconsider the plan for climbing because the plan was dependent on the weather. Moreover, it was not easy to reach the summit because itfs one of the highest mountains in the world. How many of the women could make it back?
I think she had a struggle with her teammates. In general, only some of the team can try to reach the summit and the others only support them. Also, when the leader chooses the summit team, only few members have enough power to try to reach the summit so itfs easy for the leader to choose the summit members. However, in her case, most of members had enough power and wanted to try to reach the summit still so it was difficult for her to choose summit team. If she didnft choose right members, the attempt might fail. Therefore her decision was very important. In addition to this, I think they had to struggle with weather. Bad weather prevented them from going because it might cause avalanche. However they had to reach the summit before severe winter. Therefore weather was very important for them.
I know her feeling because I was the captain of the softball club when I was a high school student. I know to try difficult things as a team is very fun but sometimes itfs very difficult. When I read the story, I could understand her position and had sympathy with her because her position was similar to mine at the club. Also, I enjoyed reading. In addition to this, I was surprised that only some of the team tried to reach the summit and the others only support them. I think itfs interesting.
gAlone around the worldh
Third story is gAlone around the worldh. Naomi James was interested in reading adventure stories when she was a child. In her life, she didnft get good grade at school, didnft enjoy her job, didnft have confidence, and was shy. However, when she saw an article that a French woman was going to voyage around the world by herself, Naomi got a dream. She decided to try the nonstop voyage. Do you think she could come back safely?
During her journey, she had a struggle with nature. She met with storms. It was the most serious problem for her because she was alone so she had to control all things by herself. In fact, one day, she slept only one and half hours because of a storm. Moreover, sometimes the storm damaged sail mats.
I think she is an active and powerful woman. I was surprised that an article ga French woman is going to voyage around the worldh changed her life. If I were her, I couldnft decide to do that because itfs very dangerous and I might die. However, I think she had a wonderful experience and learned a lot of things from it. I think good experiences make my life rich. Ifm going to go to Philippine for study and Kita-Kyushu for volunteer this summer. Ifm going to learn many things from the experience like her.
I think this book will make you exciting because itfs unusual adventure. I recommend this book especially to women.
