k.ustar writes the following about Private Peaceful :
WOW, what a book. i absolutely love it. private peaceful is a fantastic book. as i have read many books i have regarded it as one of my all time favourites. murpurgo does really well when he describes the time before the war. the flashbacks were really good. tommos character was really well thought out and he really (murpurgo) describes him well. his feelings are well described. tommo seemed really loyal to charlie even though he was married to molly. what i think worked was when tommo kept on having flashbacks of all the time before the war whilst he was waiting fo charlie to be shot. what i thought didnt work was the fact that charlie kept on getting away with lots of stuff and it seemed rather far fetched. e.g. getting molly pregnant. i think this book is for 11-14 year olds. overall, the book was absolutely fantastic.
