tennisgurly475 writes the following about Janey's Girl :
Janey’s Girl, by Gale Friesen is a book about how one girl has to uncover the mystery of her past and use her strength and courage to make a decision that will change her life forever. Claire, a 14 year old from Toronto, has many questions regarding her past. She lives with just her mother, Janey, who didn’t even go to her own father’s (Claire’s grandpa) funeral. Claire has no idea who or where her own father is. She has never met any of her relatives. Life has just been her and her mother, but all this is about to change. Now they are going to spend the summer with her grandmother in Smallwood, British Columbia, where her mother used to live. With everyone seeming to know about her past but her, and everybody being as tight-lipped as her mother, Claire is determined to figure it out. She especially wants to know why everybody around town is calling her Janey’s Girl. During her time there, she meets Jamie, a little boy with leukemia, and Mac, Jamie’s father. Claire also meets Joshua, a boy her own age. What will Claire find out about her past in this laid back town? Read Janey’s Girl to find out.
